For position measurement the absolute, linear position sensor is recommended. The patented magnetostrictive waveguide is unique. Inside the sensor a rotation voltage pulse is created in the waveguide through a temporary interaction of two magnetic fields. The interaction between these two magnetic fields produce a strain pulse that is detected by the electronics at the head of the sensor. A field is generated by a variable position magnet, which travels along the sensor rod with the waveguide inside. The position of the moving magnet is determined precisely by measuring the elapsed time between applications of the current pulse and the arrival of the strain pulse on the sensor electronic housing. The result is a reliable position measurement with high accuracy and repeatability.
